BEGINNING AGAIN
by Ann Mortifee
I woke up this morning
And fell out
of bed
There were
clouds on the ceiling
And clouds
in my head
There were
clouds on the carpet
And clouds
on the stair
And when I
looked in the mirror
There were
clouds in my hair
So I crawled
back under the covers
And I said
to myself, said I
"Self",
I said "By the time we count ten
We had better
begin this day again"
That's what
I said, said I
So I counted
one
And I scratched
my nose
I counted two
And I twiddled
my toes
Then I.counted
three
I rolled out
of bed
I counted four
And I stood
on my head
By the time
I got to five
I was definitely
feeling alive
And as I was
saying six
I found myself
doing tricks
As seven went
by
I leapt up
at the sky
Because I just
couldn't wait
To holler out
eight
And was feeling
so fine
By the time
I reached nine
That I can't
tell you when
I finally said
ten
Because the
day had begun
And out came
the sun
