Black Panther

by Ann Mortifee

Do you remember the cats
I mentioned before
The gold ones with black spots
And the terrible roar

Well, something unusual
You might want to know
Every so often
Why? ... Nobody knows

A black one is born
As black as the coal
And noone knows why
But they think, I am told

She's a gift from the moon
To the dark of the night
She's the daughter of midnight
Who fills us with light
