AS EACH MOMENT GOES BY

by

ANN MORTIFEE

There is a story I will tell
Of a girl so young and well
To seek her dream she left her home
Got lost in a storm alone

Lost in the wood from morn 'til night
Afraid of the cold and the fading light
She didn't know which way to turn
Lost in the woods alone

There was a woman full of grace
Kindly heart and kindly face
She found the young girl seeking home
And said "My dear you're not alone."

The future brings a worried mind
The past, it's life that's left behind
If in the moment you can be
Then like a deer in a clearing
Who pricks up her ears
Alive and attentive to all that she hears
You can be where you are
Breathe in the sky
Open your heart
As each moment goes by

The woman took the young girl's hand
Said "There is no need to understand
All of the things you've ever learned
Make way for the day when love returns"

The girl felt the air upon her skin
She heard the song of the haunting wind
She turned her face to the rising sun
And knew in her heart that day had come

The future brings a worried mind
The past it's life that's left behind

If in the moment you can be
Then like a heron so silently
Stalking the stream
Each step forgetting the steps that have been
You can be where you are
Breathe in the sky
Open your heart
As each moment goes by

"Which way should I go?"
the young girl asked
"What more need I know to make love last?"
The woman smiled a tender sigh
She whispered this with her good bye

Love is the path
And love's the way
What was it else I had to say?
Oh yes be content and one thing more
You're safe in that love forevermore."

Come with me be not afraid
Come with me be not afraid
Come with me be not afraid
Come into this moment
